Originally from a small Castilian town surrounded by nature, Soraya developed an early appreciation for the environment that would later shape her professional path.
Before joining Oceana, she built a solid career in finance and business administration in the private sector. The opportunity to bring those skills to an environmental organization allowed her to align her work with a purpose that truly mattered to her.
Throughout her long career at Oceana in Europe, based in the Madrid office, she has supported the organization’s mission from the financial side, ensuring that the team has the resources needed to drive meaningful ocean conservation. Although she didn’t grow up near the sea, her work at Oceana has deepened her understanding of marine life and strengthened her commitment to protecting it.
