Mar is from Madrid, but her family comes from southern Spain, from the land of a different kind of ‘sea’—the sea of olive trees in Jaén.
With over 20 years in the private sector and at Oceana since 2018, Mar is a strategic Human Resources leader with a Law degree and a Master’s specialising in labour law and compensation and benefits. She has built HR departments from the ground up and shaped people strategies across industries including pharmaceuticals, aeronautics, financial start-ups, and energy.
Her combined expertise in law and HR enables her to tackle complex challenges with rigour and a strong people focus, ensuring organisational needs are balanced with fairness, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
Mar is passionate about the diversity of ocean life and believes local communities are key to driving change. She enjoys adapting strategies to support the vital mission of protecting both the oceans and the people who depend on them.
