Irene Campmany

Senior Communications Officer

Oceana Staff

Irene joined Oceana Europe to be part of the communications department, mainly charged with giving visibility to the Plastics campaign and the Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing work, as well as ensuring the organisations’ media relations and its presence on social media channels and digital platforms.

She is a communications specialist with experience in environmental NGOs, EU institutions, and the private sector. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Mass Media from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Master’s in International Politics from the University of Amsterdam.

Born and raised in Barcelona, she’s been in touch with the oceans since she was little, spending all her summers in the Balearic Islands, where she became aware of the importance of protecting the seas and keeping the ocean healthy.

After several life lessons, she realised that what truly makes sense for her is dedicating her efforts to mitigating the climate emergency and working towards biodiversity conservation. She does so by using the power of communication and applying bold strategies that contribute to making the world a better place.
