6:15 am. The crew of the Baltic Coastal Expedition starts a new busy day. Our first meeting today is with a national company who also studies the seafloor through underwater recordings. They study marine ecosystems in the Danish Coast of Kattegat and contacted Oceana to cooperate with them and take part in their research.

At 9:00 am, the Oceana’s Rib “Oceana Explorer” is ready with the ROV, this year is a small ROV customized by Jose Manuel Saenz and Albert Ferrer, but still we can get good quality images in HD.  After a few hours at the sea, taking pictures and filming underwater, they came back to Gilleleje. Gilleleje is a harbour situated at the North of Denmark where they found some interesting reefs that were spotted by the GPS.

We only had one hour to prepare the inflatable boat for the second operation of the day, this time with divers. We also needed to grab a “bite” somewhere to recover our energy.  The rest of the crew waited on land, doing some logistics and office work and willing for the divers to come back with good news and great images. The divers documented sugar kelp, red algae, crabs and flounders in a sand bottom. Well done!

It is close to 17:00 and while some of us were wrapping-up the material, others did some harbour research to document fishing boats.

18:25. Back to the camping site to prepare a barbeque.

….Good night.
