A Rainy Day

Today we continued conducting inventories in the beautiful Quark archipelago, unfortunately we couldn’t use the drop-video camera because it rained the whole day.

This doesn’t impact the diving though, so our talented divers carried out two dives as usual. The rest of us got a much-needed opportunity to catch up with some of our other work, such as checking samples and sending e-mails.

For the past days we have been docking in a fishing harbor, which is void of people but filled with wildlife and opportunities to explore the Finnish forest. We have seen moose, rabbits, a fox and a lot of different birds. Some days ago, we enjoyed a mushroom pasta that our lovely chef had prepared with wild mushrooms that she and the rest of us had collected from the forest. We have also tried different types of berries, such as seaberry, blueberry and lingonberry. The Quark is beautiful, both above and under the surface, and it makes me so very happy to have the opportunity to work in this area and to work towards preserving this unique piece of nature.
