Waiting for the part
The part we need to repair the ROV won’t arrive until Tuesday, so while we’re waiting, we take advantage to get some work done that has accumulated during our days at sea.
The divers won’t be diving, so they can edit the images they’ve collected during this time, and that’s quite a few hours in front of the computer. Part of the crew has planned on doing maintenance work on the boat, and will divide it accordingly, including cleaning, checking oil and coolant levels, checking the engine filters, emptying ballast waters, checking the batteries, changing the light on the fore-mast and a thousand other things. As far as the scientific team is concerned, there is a lot of work to get done during the campaigns, thousands of photographs and video images have to be checked, species identified and communities described. Last, the ROV technicians prepare a damage report detailing all the problems, while they wait to contact the messenger company on Monday to track the parcel.
