Tuesday 18 June 2013 – SEA SICK!
Dead silence on the boat. All you hear is the waves hitting the sides. We are rolling up and down, up and down, on the waves. Concentrated faces staring at the sea. Up and down, up and down. Klaus is standing up on the boat eating potato crisps. Grillchips. I’m feeling sick, sea sick. I try to focus my eyes on the horizon but it doesn’t help. It’s fine, I will be on the boat for just four more hours…
Today was the first day in the beautiful archipelago of Marstrand in the Swedish west coast. This area is a real vacation area for Swedes on holidays. The coastline is dotted with expensive houses and big boats. The wind was quite brisk in the morning so we only managed to dive with the ROV. In total we did five dives and we found a couple of good spots, full of corals and fish. Tomorrow we are coming back to these spots and we will let the divers go down.
The feeling when we returned to land was extremely satisfying. No more feeling sick and there was some food waiting for us. I am convinced I wasn’t the only one feeling sick, but the divers would never admit it though. In any case – tomorrow I will stay on land for sure.
