Seco de los Olivos. Playing with sand
Today we celebrated. Not only because Spain plays against Chile tonight. During the dive with the ROV this morning, we spotted a deep sea shark, although we have yet to identify it. During my first day on the Oceana Ranger, my tasks were in the kitchen, but the rough seas didn’t let me do my job. I had to stay outside to keep from being seasick, so I saw how the sea turned orange once again and we’ve taken more samples to check that it’s the dinoflagelated Noctiluca scintillans again. Ángeles was lucky and added a loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) sighting to her list.
In the afternoon we did a second dive with the ROV and took samples with the dredge, so I watched Silvia play with the sand. And there’s not better way to end the day than with a victory. Chile 1 – Spain 2.
