Saturday 29 June 2013
Today is our first day of work in Finland.
The plan for the day is to make a long sailing of roughly twenty miles, to one of the islands of the “Quark”, that is an archipelago located in the west coast of Finland, on the Gulf of Bothnia.
We decide that only those who are essential for ROV operations will go and document the place carefully because tomorrow the divers will make several immersions in the area.
The videographers stayed at the port documenting a couple of trawlers. I took advantage and interviewed Xavier Pastor, leader of the expedition, finally! He’s been busy taking part in a thousand things during the campaign, and I haven´t stopped going back and forth trying to document everything that happens around us. We hadn´t had a real moment to do the interview, without anything or anyone bothering us.
After the interview we went to other port to see if there were any fishing vessels, but there weren´t, so I asked Xavier to drop me off at the hotel so I could edit the video without the usual rush.

Anyway, I sat down at three in the afternoon, and I started copying the images to the hard drive, editing, looking for information from other days, exporting the info in HD, preparing it for the web, and before I could even notice… it is nine p.m. (just six short hours) all gone in a blink of the eye.
I stood up as the rest of the crew returned to the hotel after five ROVs. We had a quick shower and afterwards had dinner at the hotel. I went online to send the video, then dinner and finally a toast for “Sheriff” whose birthday´s today.
So, Happy birthday!!!
