The main objective for the day was making it from Åland to Vaasa in Finland. We had a ferry connection around two o’clock, so the morning was for half of us doing harbor research near Mariehamn. The other half gave the Zodiac a little t.l.c. We had a broken running light we had rigged to work and a loose antenna. Running lights were replaced and the antenna remounted.
The ferry ride was very smooth, going through the Åland archipelago straight into the Finish archipelago. Never really hitting open water. We arrived in Turku, Finland, and had the 350 km drive to Vaasa ahead of us. Most everybody was scouting for the apparently very common moose. No moose’s observed. We reached our hotel just before midnight, well before it got dark….wondering if they really have moose’s in Finland!
