A year with many jellyfish
This is going to be a year with many jellyfish. During the whole night we saw the fluorescent jellyfish flashing in the boat’s wake. There are not so many in the coastal areas yet, but the high seas are full of them.
In the evening, we passed through an area with many buoys of long liners. No one of them was marked. And there were no one boat in the vicinity; only three French fishing boats some miles away.
Finally, we arrived at Pobla de Farnals, where we are going to leave the boat for a while until we can put it on dry dock.
We are finishing with the last preparations: putting the life rafts and inflatable inside, collecting all the leftover food, covering and protecting the sails, taking the ROV to the warehouse, etc.
Despite the bad weather during the ocean crossing, the expedition went very well. We finished with the BRUVs work in the Canary Islands, we found several fishing boats with the AIS off, and we surveyed some interesting areas that we can promote to protect or to increase the already existing protection. Many hours of video to analyze and a lot of things we have learned.
Being a direct witness at sea is of incalculable value.
