TwoThirds Bluefin Artist Series

The Atlantic Bluefin Tuna has been an important and emblematic part of Mediterranean culture for centuries, fascinating even ancient Greek and Latin philosophers because of its impressive size and fast speed. Yet these magnificent creatures, sometimes called tigers of the oceans, find themselves under strong fishing pressure and need our support.

To support this cause, San Sebastian-based surf inspired street label, TwoThirds, has invited international artists such as Emil Kozak, Kristian Hammerstad and Jolby to create a t-shirt artist series inspired by the Bluefin Tuna. The project has gone far beyond the creation of t-shirts and flourished to become the travelling exhibition “Bluefin Artist Series,” designed both to raise public awareness and support for the protection of this most emblematic species of the Mediterranean, and to support Oceana’s efforts to protect and restore the world’s oceans.

The exhibition, which launched on June 10th, in San Sebastián, Spain, will travel to Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles, and next year it will be auctioned off to support efforts to protect Bluefin.

We’ve been working with TwoThirds since 2009, ever since we discovered that we share the same values: environmental protection and particularly ocean conservation. It’s been great to see their committed support and on-going efforts to raise awareness about the oceans.
